‘Mrs Payten’, which was named after Swinging Bridge winemaker Tom Ward’s grandmother, (now in her 90’s), also took out the trophy for Best Chardonnay and Best White Wine of the Show.
“Whilst we don’t make our wines to win at shows, it is a very proud moment. It gives us pause to reflect on the past few years, and to thank the many helpers and team members who have worked with us in order to get us to this position. The Balmoral Vineyard continually produces fantastic fruit, and it is this fruit that makes our Mrs Payten,” said Swinging Bridge winemaker Tom Ward
Balmoral (850m) is one of the oldest Chardonnay vineyards in the Orange region and has been the source of some of the most awarded Chardonnays of Orange.
Meanwhile the 2013 Swinging Bridge Sauvignon Blanc was also awarded the trophy for the Best Sauvignon Blanc at the Show.
